Happy Cambodian New Year!
Our Cambodian friends and colleagues have recently ushered in the Year of the Tiger, a time of great vitality, energy and new life. Cambodia Tomorrow is looking forward to a great Tiger year when we will be further expanding our programs, strengthening our partnerships with allied non-profits and recruiting for volunteers to join our dynamic Board. We are particularly looking for people with expertise in finance/accounting, technology and marketing. Visit our blog for more information.
Since our inception in 2002, Cambodia Tomorrow has funded our education work at Kompong Speu Orphan Center through a combination of general fundraising and direct sponsorship, matching students with individual donors. As our school program expands to serve the community outside the orphanage, watch for our fundraising efforts to focus on new initiatives. What does this mean to you? Our current sponsors will continue their direct relationship with the child they sponsor. Don't yet sponsor a child? Don't worry - we have many opportunities to enhance the lives of the children and maintain a personal relationship with the orphanage and the Kompong Speu community.
We are able to plan these changes due to your dedicated support for providing educational opportunities to the children of Cambodia.
Thank you!

Thanks to all who contributed so generously to our Annual Holiday Fund Drive last December! The contributions of almost $25,000 ensures Cambodia Tomorrow School programs will continue to thrive, providing high quality English language education, computer training and tutoring for public school. The donations will also allow us to continue to provide basic needs support, including rice, nanny support and other necessities.

Topic: Importance of English for my job in the future
Sum Reaksmey March 29, 2010
In the future I want to be an accountant. I have to study hard. I have to study math and computer and I have to study English too. If I can speak English and I can read in English and I can write in English it very easy to help my job.
First, It easy for me to use computer and calculator and I can read a lot of English books about accounting. Second, I can speak English with my friends, my teacher and I can speak English with expert accountant or visitors. When I know English I can have a good communication with customers. Third, It easy to searching the book and easy to use the Internet for more knowledge
In conclusion I think English is very importance for my job in the future. Thank you for your listening to me. I wish you good luck, good heath, success in your study and your work forever!
Reaksmey is thirteen years old. She has been studying English since November 2006 and is in the sixth level of the Let's Go curriculum. She is currently in grade 5 in public school.
Sok Savoeun March 29, 2010
Hello everybody! Let's talk about importance of English for my future. In my future I want to be a doctor. So I must know English well. If I want to have a good future I must do some point as: First, I have to study English... Because now I am young I can learn English for a long time. It is very important for me to speak English with my teachers and my friends.
Second, English is an important language for a doctor. When I know English I will have a good communication with my customers.
Third, When I know English it easy for me to search on the Internet for a lot of information that talk about health because some medicine use English language to introduce the people to use it. In conclusion I think English is very important for my future and my job.
Savoeun is 15 ½ years old and is in grade 7 in public school. She recently advanced to the fifth level in the Let's Go curriculum. Her average test scores are in the low to mid 90s.

April is a time of celebration in Cambodia. The children have a two-week holiday from public school for the Khmer New Year. Some children leave the orphan center and return to their villages to spend time with their extended family. Our teachers are very busy during this time preparing for the new year.
The children are advancing nicely through their studies. Earlier this year over 50% of our students advanced to a higher level in the curriculum. For children who need extra help, the teachers have set up remedial classes to give them individual attention. Other children have the opportunity to work with the XO computers, play English learning games on our PCs or utilize audio materials to improve their listening skills.
We also have a large class of young children just beginning public school and other older children who are new to the Orphan Center and to English studies.

University Student Soeng Kosal |

Dear Cambodia Tomorrow,
How are you? I am well.
My study is going well. I go to school every day. I always think that my future will be bright because I am determined to study hard. I get lots of homework and assignment from the lecturers. The University class is far different from high school class. I nearly make presentation every day of each week. I do enjoy it very much.
In Cambodia we celebrated New Year on 14, 15, 16 of April. Do you know it a largest ceremony in my country? It takes three days. People go to pagoda during that time. Cambodian people always play traditional games at night from the end of March until New Year finish because it the Khmer tradition. The traditional games are very important that people like to play and me too. When the Moon shines in my country it make a good time for us to play the games under the Moon. All villages in every province are full of happy sound.
Finally, I would like to say thanks very much for Cambodia Tomorrow supporting very deeply. I wish all of you with all the best.
Yours sincerely,
Kosal
Soeng Kosal is in his second year at Norton University
